You can usually identify the WordPress version from the dashboard. You do not need to publish a diagnostic file or share administrator credentials to answer a basic version question.
Check the Updates screen
- Sign in to
/wp-adminusing your own account. - Open Dashboard → Updates. The page reports your installed version and indicates whether an update is available.
- If the version is not obvious, check the dashboard’s At a Glance panel or the footer of the administration screen; layout can vary by version and configuration.
Use the site health screen if needed
Open Tools → Site Health → Info and expand the WordPress section to view site configuration details. Treat this as private administrative information: do not post a full Site Health report publicly because it can include paths, environment details, and other sensitive configuration.
Tell support only what is needed
Share the WordPress version, site address, and a short description of the issue. Never send your administrator password. If you cannot sign in, ask your host about its supported recovery process.
WordPress Core, themes, and plugins each have separate versions. Confirm the component you are checking before reporting it.
